SOCS Hosts Regional Networking & Educational Symposium in Indianapolis
Nearly 50 practicing dermatologists, residents, and medical students gathered on April 25, 2025, in Indianapolis for the Skin of Color Society (SOCS) Regional Networking & Educational Symposium, held in conjunction with the Indiana Academy of Dermatology Spring Meeting. This dynamic event provided a unique opportunity for attendees to connect with colleagues, learn more about the mission and programs of SOCS, and explore ways to engage more deeply with efforts to advance equity and excellence in dermatology.
Representing SOCS at the event was long-time member and advocate, Dr. Pat Treadwell, who delivered a compelling address spotlighting the Society’s signature initiatives. These included the nationally recognized SOCS Mentorship Program, which connects early-career dermatologists and students with experienced leaders in the field, and the Society’s growing portfolio of research grant opportunities aimed at advancing understanding of and care for skin of color.
The SOCS Regional Networking & Educational Symposia are designed to recruit new members, foster community and professional development at the local level, while extending the reach of SOCS’ mission across the country. These events serve as a meaningful platform for outreach, engagement, and knowledge-sharing among dermatologists who are committed to improving outcomes for patients of color.
