Dr. Candrice R. Heath is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Howard University. She is a triple board-certified in Dermatology, Pediatrics, and Pediatric Dermatology and maintains a clinical practice that includes both children and adults.
She earned her undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University and her medical degree at the University of Virginia. Her pediatric residency training took place at Emory University, followed by two dermatology clinical research fellowships completed while practicing as a pediatrician. She then completed dermatology residency at Mt. Sinai St. Luke’s-Roosevelt in New York City and pediatric dermatology fellowship at Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Heath is a nationally recognized speaker and a clinical researcher focused on both pediatric and adult dermatology. Her past leadership roles include serving with the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance Skin of Color and Pigmentary Disorders Group, the American Academy of Dermatology Diversity Committee, and the board of the Heath Health Foundation for Education and Research. To support her work in clinical trials and scarring alopecia research she has received Career Development Awards from the Robert A. Winn Excellence in Clinical Trials Award, established by the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation, and the Skin of Color Society.
Her interests include atopic dermatitis, central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia, traction alopecia, dermatology health equity, and patient-centered culturally sensitive communication. Dr. Heath has published several scientific journal articles, been invited to speak widely, appeared in media, and spends countless hours mentoring and creating far reaching educational initiatives positively impacting both learners and patients.
Dr. Heath loves being a dermatologist and her passion for patients exudes from her soul. Dr. Heath divides her time between her roles as a grant-funded clinical researcher, clinician, educator, and leader in various dermatology organizations, while also dedicating time to her family.
