The Skin of Color Society (SOCS) is the world’s leading professional dermatologic organization dedicated to achieving health equity and excellence in patient care through research, education, mentorship, and advocacy. SOCS is committed to increasing diversity and inclusion in the field of dermatology to advance patient care.
It’s vital our future dermatologists provide the highest level of specialty care to patients; however, significant disparities in care remain, especially among minority populations. Evidence indicates that work force diversity reduces health care disparities. We believe by increasing the number of practicing dermatologists who are, themselves, under-represented minorities, we can positively impact these disparities.
